PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT

The MetLife Foundation conducts an annual survey that continually informs us of the need to engage parents in their children?s education. The data tells us of the importance parental involvement has to the success of academic achievement, strategies that strengthen the relationships between schools and families, and partnerships that support methods for overcoming barriers between parents and the school staff.

AACTE has had the pleasure to partner with the MetLife Foundation to further understand how our members employ strategies to engage parents in the academic success of their children. The Survey and Findings, as well as the presentations from leading researchers are being made available to ensure our members have resources for applying solutions to these issues within their education units.

This site will offer various presentations and information for use in addressing the concerns for Parental Involvement. We hope you use this site to develop or begin a program that provides new teacher training and in-service professional development with the tools necessary to effectively work with families to increase academic success for all students.
