The review panel for the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education
has selected Western Oregon University and the University of Delaware as the two
recipients of AACTE's "Model Early Childhood Teacher Preparation Initiative" grant,
funded by the Lumina Foundation for Education.
AACTE is committed to improving access and quality of teacher preparation programs and is
delighted to work with these two fine institutions in this endeavor. The Association is
also very pleased at the response generated by the announcement of the grant and
appreciates the variety and quality of proposals received. We are now working to
secure funds to expand the number of institutions involved in this project in the
near future.
Please join us in a session during the upcoming AACTE Annual Meeting in Washington, DC to
learn about the work of the grant recipients. We invite all AACTE conference participants
to attend this session, entitled "Collaborating with Community Colleges to Prepare Diverse
ECE Teachers", on Tuesday, February 22 at 3:15 - 4:45pm room Monroe East of the Washington
Hilton and Towers.
